Get the MAC address of a workstation

A Media Access Control (MAC) address is a hardware identification number that uniquely identifies each device on a network. It is manufactured into every network card, such as an Ethernet card, Wi-Fi card, or Bluetooth module, and therefore cannot be changed.

  1. Open Windows Settings by going to Start → Settings or typing settings into the Start Menu

  2. In the Windows Settings window, click Network & Internet

  3. In the Network & Internet pane, under Status, click View your network properties

  4. Your MAC Address will be shown under Physical address (MAC) in the Properties window

  1. Click on the System Preferences icon on the macOS Dock

  2. In the System Preferences window, click Network

  3. In the Network window, select the connected network device, then click Advanced…

  4. In the new window, click Hardware

  5. Your MAC Address will be shown beside the entry marked MAC Address

  1. Click on the Settings icon on the Ubuntu Dock

  2. In the System Settings window, click Network

  4. Your MAC Address will be shown beside the entry marked Hardware Address
